Running investor due diligence and screening at institutional scale

We identify where AI removes cost and where it quietly adds risk.

Every engagement begins with a scoping conversation. If a smaller package is the right starting point, we will say so.

Overview

Investor due diligence has become substantially more demanding. Beneficial ownership must be established through multi layered structures, sanctions and politically exposed person screening must be evidenced, source of wealth must be understood, and the whole assessment must be documented well enough to satisfy a regulator years later.

Manual processing struggles at volume. A complex institutional investor may involve a dozen documents across several jurisdictions, and a fund closing three hundred investors within a compressed window creates a queue that either delays the close or encourages the kind of shortcuts that surface badly in a regulatory review.

The Strategy

AI reads incoming due diligence documentation, extracts the entity structure, identifies beneficial owners through intermediate holdings, and compares what has been provided against what the firm's policy requires for that investor type and jurisdiction. Gaps are identified precisely, so the request back to the investor is complete and specific rather than iterative.

Screening results are then assessed rather than simply listed. Where a name matches a sanctions, adverse media or politically exposed person record, AI assembles the supporting context, assesses the likelihood of genuine match against the known investor detail, and presents the analysis to the compliance officer for decision. The decision remains human. What changes is that the officer receives a considered case file rather than a raw hit list, and the reasoning behind every outcome is recorded automatically.

Results Driven

Onboarding throughput increases without weakening the control environment. False positive screening hits, which typically consume the majority of compliance analyst time, are triaged with the supporting analysis already assembled, so attention concentrates on the small number of matters that require genuine judgement.

The evidential record also improves materially. Every decision carries its reasoning, its supporting documents and its timestamp, which is exactly what a regulator or an institutional investor's operational due diligence team asks to see.
